"I went out to find a friend, but could not find one there. I went out to be a friend, and there were friends everywhere." Unknown
"A man that hath friends must show himself friendly." Proverbs 18:24
"By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth; saying, sing unto us one of the songs of Zion. How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?" Psalm 137:1-4
Single Heart Songs is a ministry intended to encourage Christian Adult Singles, Widows, & Divorcees possessing a desire to grow spiritually & emotionally while embracing the single life. Few of us actually chose this 'strange land' but by faith we can still sing of God's grace as we travel through it. Here are a few songs the Lord has given me along my own journey:

Fear & the Familiar or Faith for the Future?
My pastor (Rev. Steven Williams, Bethel Temple Pentecostal Church/Brookhaven MS)preached an awesome sermon this morning on the title of this blog post. As happens with most things I read, hear or come into contact with, it gets me thinking, which is dangerous sometimes. Today, though, I thought about his sermon title and how I can apply it to my single life.....This may be for no one else but myself, but in the event it is of interest to you, please read on but be forewarned, this may come across as a bitter diatribe (which is NOT my intention), it is not one that will make you shout and rejoice at this moment, but like my pastor also says quite frequently, it may not make you shout right now, but it will help keep you shouting for the long haul.

OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE JUST AS BEAUTIFUL ON THE INSIDE
BOOK REVIEW: MARRIABLE by Haley & Michael DiMarco
"They Just Might be Out of your League"
Earlier this week, an interesting discussion thread began on my favorite singles group on Facebook. The discussion began with a question: "When meeting someone, what impresses you the most?" Many adult singles fear that their looks or outward appearance is the primary attribute that a person of the opposite sex assesses when determining whether or not he/she wants to investigate a dating relationship with that person. It's sad, but true.

BOOK REVIEW
AVOIDING MR. WRONG & WHAT TO DO IF YOU DIDN'T by Stephen Arterburn & Dr. Meg J. Rinck
I'm still working on completing the book review WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO WHILE WAITING FOR MR. RIGHT by Janet L. Fulger and will continue to complete my review and thoughts concerning that priceless resource. Today, however a new discussion came up in one of my singles groups that prompted me to at least begin a new book review on this new topic. It will be a process, but I will share more and more about it in the days to come.
I personally recommend this book to all single christian women. It lists 10 different kinds of men who will ruin your life, how to spot them, what kind of lady he is attracted to

Adult Singles Poll
On my main blog page, right column, there is a poll that I hope any readers who catch my blog over the next couple weeks will take part in. It is going to be used anonymously as research for an article I am planning to write concerning our singleness life. Earlier today, I posted the same poll question on Facebook Encounter Ministry and one of my friends made some powerful comments that support my thoughts and revelations on this subject.

Reason, Season or Lifetime?
Earlier today I read an interesting post on Joy Eggerich's (Daughter of Dr. Emerson Eggerich, author of the Love & Respect books) website Love & Respect NOW. Joy has taken the Love and Respect concept and applied it to single life. While reading her post today entitled "God's Symphony Gone Flat" I was greatly intrigued and blessed. The anonymous writer asked Joy this question:

BOOK REVIEW WITH GOD SPEAKING
Today's post is about something I have experienced first hand during my single days. Single life is REALLY tough sometimes, as all of life is. But I am so glad that we have a God that walks with us, is involved. Even when we don't understand what is going on in life, HE IS INVOLVED!

BOOK REVIEW
PART II: "What's a Girl To Do While Waiting for Mr. Right?" By Janet L. Folger
TODAY'S NOTEWORTHY HIGHLIGHTS: "You can never be happy putting a guy {or gal} in the place of God---because they are human and will always let you down. God has to be the one you run to--because ultimately He's the only one who can satisfy your needs, rescue you from trouble, give you a true sense of self-worth, and enable you to live out all the things He has planned for you. No matter how good a guy (or gal) may be, they cannot provide what God can. When you've let your boyfriend/girlfriend take the place of God, you've not only cheated the God who made you, you've cheated yourself as well."

BOOK REVIEW
PART I: "What's a Girl to Do While Waiting for Mr. Right?" By: Janet L. Folger
First, this book is written for women, but virtually ALL of its content are of benefit to men as well. This particular book review will probably be an ongoing discussion for me. But I am currently reading some books on singleness, and maybe sharing some of my thoughts and inspiring quotes/reviews will help some. I do know that I have to stay busy in the work of God, that's what I am going to do while waiting.
NOTEWORTHY HIGHLIGHTS: "You are alone now...like me....because God has something He wants you to do. Something so critically important to His mission that Satan has to come up with a way to stop it. Make no mistake: Satan will pull out every stop to prevent what he knows you could do for the kingdom of God. I'm talking about the big guns here---the rocket launchers designed to debilitate even the most faithful soldiers in God's army:
WELCOME!
Welcome to my blog "A Single Heart Song"! Here I will be attempting to minister to Christian adult singles as they meander through all the struggles, hardships, frustrations, and loneliness of adult single life. Of special interest will be book reviews of Christian singleness books. We all may not be able to buy every Christian single book that comes out on the best seller list, but through this medium we can all benefit from the highlights of those I am able to read. I will also be sharing web content of interest to adult singles. If you have any suggestions or topics you would like to see covered in my blog, get in touch with me and I will see what I can do. Feel free to post your comments, thoughts, or suggestions as we journey through this season of life together. God loves you, and so do I! Be blessed, be encouraged, and get involved with Christian singles activities in your area. Growing within our singleness is vital to our spiritual and emotional well-being. If we stop growing, we are dead. As for me, I NEVER want to stop growing! God bless you, single friend!
